Dr. Marielena DeSanctis

Dr. Marielena DeSanctis currently serves as the College Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services at Broward College. Dr. DeSanctis joined Broward College in April 2014, and she brings almost six years of experience as an engineer and 16 years of experience in K-12 education. Prior to joining Broward College, Dr. DeSanctis served as the Executive Director of Curriculum for Broward County Public Schools, principal of Fort Lauderdale High School, Assistant Principal at South Plantation High School, and six years of experience as a math/physics teacher. She has served as a committee member and leader of several professional organizations including state President of the Florida Association of School Administrators. As an engineer, she worked nationally in the field of water and wastewater.

 

Dr. DeSanctis earned her Ed.S. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University; her master’s in Math Education from Nova Southeastern University; and her bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

 

Colorado Community College System (CCCS) Chancellor Joe Garcia has recently announced Dr. Marielena DeSanctis as the next president of Community College of Denver (CCD). Dr. Marielena DeSanctis will begin new role January 2021.

Dr. Sunem Beaton-Garcia, North Campus president and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs for Broward College. She is a former instructor in our online college, has a doctorate with a focus on instructional design and ed tech. Her campus has 15,000 students and she also has the bachelor's degree in teacher education program in several areas on her campus.
